Gift of Membership

Looking for the perfect gift for children or grandchildren this holiday season? Why not give the gift that keeps on giving—a membership with NASA Federal.

From childhood savings to college assistance to their first car and more, NASA Federal will be there for your kids and theirs. The gift of membership will last a lifetime, no matter where life takes them.

As a credit union member, your kids have the opportunity to earn the highest rates by saving with an Early Savers Certificate*. With just a $50 opening deposit, your kids will earn higher dividends than with a regular savings account. You can also add to the 12-month certificate at any time throughout the year—the perfect place to stash birthday or holiday money!

Give the gift of membership this season to all the young people in your family. Remember, your family members are automatically eligible to join. Visit any branch office to pick up a Membership kit or go to nasafcu.com/gift and download a Gift of Membership package. It’s quick and easy to join, and it takes just a $5 opening deposit!

*Minimum $50 deposit to open. Must be age 23 or under to be eligible. Additional deposits of at least $25 can be made at any time, but are not required. Balance, including dividends cannot exceed $50,000. Early withdrawal penalties apply and may reduce earnings. Additional conditions apply.

Get On The Road Today With A NASA Federal Auto Loan

Are you in the market for a new car? The holidays are a great time to get in the driver’s seat! The economy is forcing manufacturers to offer generous deals in an effort to increase business. New cars and trucks are more affordable than they have been in years! But before you sign on the dotted line, be sure to do your homework. Here are a few simple proactive steps you should take:

  • Create a budget and obtain your credit report so you know exactly where you stand.
  • Determine what type of car you need and start visiting dealerships.
  • Check car buying sites to build your new auto and see MSRP and dealer invoice pricing.
  • Get pre-approved at your credit union before you shop.
  • Shop for your new vehicle online or at dealerships. When it’s time to negotiate a price, stick to what you know. Don’t be tempted to pay for options you don’t need or want.
  • Always compare taking the rebate and your great credit union rate instead of a 0% offer. Most of the time, you’ll save money.
  • Avoid saying yes to needless extras like extended warranties when it’s time to sign.

Want To Drive It Home? We’ve Got The Best Loan!

Check with NASA Federal for low rates, affordable terms and added conveniences that few financial institutions can match. To get started, apply online. Visit our online car center to compare makes and models or call 301-249-1800 or toll-free 1-888-NASA-FCU (627-2328) and speak with an Auto Loan Specialist. Or, with more than 100 area dealers in our Here & Now program, you can get your credit union loan right at the dealership.

The 2010 Census Is Underway

What You Should Expect

Across America, Census workers have begun canvassing neighborhoods to identify each residential address. Gathering this information gives us a count of everyone living in the United States. The Government can then allot funding for public services according to its findings. With the 2010 Census underway, it’s important to be cautious. It could give con artists a gateway to accessing your personal information, finances and more. Here are some tips to help keep you from becoming a victim of fraud or identity theft:

  • If a U.S. Census worker knocks on your door, they will have a badge, a handheld device, a Census Bureau canvas bag and a confidentiality notice. Ask to see their identification and their badge before answering their questions. However, you should never invite anyone you don’t know into your home.
  • Remember, no matter what they ask, you really only need to tell them how many people live at your address. The Census Bureau may ask for basic financial information, such as a salary range, but you don’t have to answer anything about your financial situation.
  • The Census Bureau will not ask for Social Security Numbers or any other banking information, nor will employees solicit donations. Anyone asking for that information is NOT with the Census Bureau.
  • The Census Bureau has decided not to work with Acorn on gathering this information. No Acorn worker should approach you saying he/she is with the Census Bureau.
  • Eventually, Census workers may contact you by telephone, mail or in person at home. However, the Census Bureau will not contact you by e-mail, so be on the lookout for e-mail scams impersonating the Census. Never click on a link or open any attachments in an e-mail that look like they are from the U.S. Census Bureau.

If and when a Census worker comes knocking on your door, be cooperative but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity theft. For more information on keeping secure, visit nasafcu.com/security.

Help Donate To Those In Need!

During the holidays we give thanks for the people around us. Last year, NASA Federal Credit Union collected over 2,000 lbs of nonperishable food items. Let’s make this another record-breaking year!

In December, each NASA Federal branch will have a collection box for your non-perishable food items. At the end of the month, every branch will team up with a different donation organization within their community to distribute the food. Help us embody the credit union philosophy of people helping people this holiday season and stop by a branch office near you to make a donation. Visit us online for a list of needed items.

Make it a holiday season to remember. We know all the recipients will appreciate your generosity!
